Especially noteworthy is, according to Kuo, that CBI currently pours about NT$20 million (US$609,756 at US$1: NT$32.8) yearly into developing about 30 new products, particularly automatic tensioners. Such aggressiveness has left competitors behind in terms of the number of automatic tensioners CBI can supply.

CBI's strategy, Kuo reveals, is to focus on developing and making only high-end items, and selling them to major customers, especially advanced European nations, who look for high quality rather than low prices. CBI's products are 100% made in Taiwan of the finest materials, Kuo stresses, that offer more-than-twice the durability relative to cheaper counterparts made by rivals; while virtually being equal to items made by tier-one Japanese suppliers qualitywise. For example, each belt tensioner produced by CBI can last about 80,000 kilometers or more, Kuo says, while very few low-cost counterparts have a service life longer than 50,000 kilometers.
Due to rapidly increasing demand, CBI plans to move to a new and much bigger plant with more production capacity and higher inventory in 2007. Kuo is very confident that the new plant will further enhance its global competitiveness by offering enlarged production capacity and shorter lead times.
